To Be A Designer - Market

At week 31's lecture given by Angela Fusco, who is a senior denim designer, she talked about the denim garments designed by herself "powerful, confident, sophisticated demographic", the garments she designed leans more towards a gender-neutral style, which is also one of the main trends in today's fashion market.

My major project this year is aimed at interior design for children's rooms, which means I need to understand market demands—specifically what kinds of products parents prefer to buy to decorate their children's rooms. At this point, I first use my own experiences as a reference, recalling what I liked as a child. Then, I will visit interior design brands in the market or browse their website to see what products they offer for children.

The selection of materials choosing is also a crucial part of design. It is not only a way for clients to understand the design but also an aspect that aligns with market preferences. As Angela Fusco mentioned in her lecture, when conducting material research, she clarifies: What are the raw materials of this material? What is it composed of? Why is this material used in the project? Additionally, these material characteristics will be clearly stated in the design description.
