In the lecture given by Sarah Swindell, the owner of WATERMELON CREATIVE, she talked through examples of ideas WATERMELON CREATIVE did for licensors and licensees, near the end of the lecture, she mentioned some challenges the agency is facing, such as new ways of working and market influences. After the lecture, we had a seminar to discuss: What is your future plan? Are there any challenges?

We had discussion of 30 mins to talk about each person's career plan and some challenge we may face.

To me, I want go back to China, my ideal job is to be the owner of an art and textile studio that I can sell my slow making art works to my consumers, as well as some raw materials such as yarns and embroidery threads.

However, if I start my own studio, I will need larger number of potential customers and a significant amount of money. Therefore, before I setting my own studio, I plan to work as a designer at an interior design company for about five years. I find designing for clients of different age groups very interesting ---- During my undergraduate studies, I had a collaborative project with ROMO, my target customers are high-income individuals aged 30-50, while during my master's project, my designs were aimed at children aged 5-10. By working at a company, I will gain more design experience and save up some money, which will help me open my own store and attract more customers.

Another career idea I have would be an alternative to working as an interior designer, it's to become a textile design teacher at an international high school in China, maybe I will go to Shenzhen, as there are few international high schools, but no many local universities, which means the availability of teachers is not very saturated. The idea came to me when I realized that during my A-level studies at an international high school in China, my school only offered Art and Design as an art related subject. As the number of international schools in China continues to grow, I believe there will be more specialized subject classifications. I could teach high school students what I learned in university, helping them better understand the field of textile design.
